Sometime in spring 2008
In the next year or so I intend to build a wooden backyard observatory on a concrete base with a concrete pier.
The roof will be a roll-off type. I also plan to make a warm-room because mainly I will be doing astrophotography.
So, here goes...
22 May 08 - First digg a big hole in the ground
4 July 08 - I poured a relatively small concrete footer
After the footer dried a bit I filled the tube with a bit finer mixture,
added some glass fibre for additional strength and stiffness
Steel adapter plate on four threaded rods
The tube filled and the plate inserted
07 July 08 - Before filling up the hole with sand, earth and rocks I made additional isolation layer and filled it with fine sand.
21 July 08 - Concrete base finished
11 April 09 - Hydroinsulation
There will be 30 wheels like this holding the roof. Each one can hold 45kg.
